Course pre-requisites

Participants will learn how to

• Consider the developmental needs of teenagers
• Relate psychological understandings and approaches to their own experience of adolescence
• Start to develop a toolkit for living and/or working with teenagers

Course content and methodology

• The teenage years within the lifespan
• An introduction to the impact of attachment
• Some of the ‘tasks of adolescence’
• The teenage brain and the social, emotional and cognitive development of teenagers
• Helping teenagers manage their feelings and behaviour
• Course includes some information presentation and plenty of group discussion, individual reflection and experiential learning

• Applying positive, developmental and neuropsychology to supporting young people
