Help! I'm an RE Manager - Special Schools

These sessions are designed to enable RE managers to explore, share and develop good practice in RE in their schools with a focus on children with special needs. The sessions will focus on helping all staff to understand the cycle of enquiry, consider the concepts in the Living Difference syllabus 111 that are appropriate for children with special needs, create and amend planning for RE and help understand and plan assessment that works across the school.

Course Content

Sessions will cover issues according to the needs of the participants, such as:

    • Supporting other staff in school - what is Hampshire RE about?
    • Developing schemes of work for RE within a developing, integrated curriculum.
    • RE through Literacy.
    • RE linked with the creative arts.
    • Developing thinkings skills in RE.
    • Assessing RE.
    • RE's contribution to pupils' SMSC development.

Other Booking Information

Applicants are expected to attend one meeting each term for one academic year.  It is useful if delegates bring their own planning and RE work to the sessions.  The meetings will be held within a local primary phase school. The host school will receive one free place at the meetings.

The total cost of the programme is: Sub £210 - SLA £165 - Full £252. As the meetings span two financial years, the cost will be split and an invoice sent in 17/18 after the start of the programme and the final invoice in 18/19.  Split costs are:

FY 2017/18  Sub £140 - SLA £110 - Full £168 - autumn 2017 and spring 2018 sessions

FY 2018/19  Sub £70 - SLA £55 - Full £84 - summer 2018 session
