HSCB - The Impact of Domestic Violence and Abuse on Young People

A one day course to promote awareness of the dynamics of violent relationships, the impact on children and possible interventions. This is Level 2 training as defined by the HSCB training pathway.

Children's Services and partner agencies, including the Voluntary Sector, who work directly with children and young people

Course pre-requisites:

Delegates must have previously completed the Virtual College eLearning modules listed below, and must bring certificates of completion to this training.  Instructions for how to access Virtual College eLearning can be found here.

  • An Introduction to FGM, Forced marriage, Spirit Possession and Honour Based Violence
  • Awareness of Domestic Violence and Abuse including the Impact on Children, Young People and Adults at Risk


Participants will learn how to:

  • Demonstrate raised awareness of the impact of domestic violence and abuse on the development of children and young people

  • Demonstrate raised awareness of domestic violence and abuse on adults’ ability to parent  

  • Demonstrate an awareness of relevant research evidence

  • Have considered interventions to support children and young people living with domestic violence and abuse


Course attendance fees:

Hampshire Safeguarding Children Board (HSCB) offer free training to their partner agencies*.  In the case of non-attendance or cancellation within 48 hours of an event a fee of £120 will be incurred.  This fee will be waived if a substitute delegate is sent instead but you must let us know if this happens.  All cancellations or changes must be sent in writing to cs.nominations@hants.gov.uk

*HSCB Partner agencies = Hampshire County Council - Hampshire Constabulary - National Probation Service – Hampshire & IOW Community Rehabilitation Company – CAFCASS – NHS Hampshire CCG’s (not GP’s) – Basingstoke & Deane Borough Council – East Hampshire District Council – Eastleigh Borough Council – Fareham Borough Council – Gosport Borough Council – Hart District Council – Havant Borough Council – New Forest District Council – Rushmoor Borough Council – Test Valley Borough Council – Winchester City Council – Hampshire Fire & Rescue – Hampshire Armed Forces

Training is open to other agencies and individuals at a cost of £120 per delegate, please supply a name and address for invoicing purposes when booking
