An English Planning Tool to Support Pupils with SEND
Delegates will focus on how to make best use of the Hampshire SEND planning tool – a document that supports teachers with teaching concept development through ideas for teaching approaches and identifying barriers to learning. The tool will support bespoke provision for SEND pupils who are unlikely to have completed the relevant programmes of study when they reach the appropriate chronological age.

The Rochford Review recognises that
age-related expectations are not appropriate for a significant proportion of
pupils working below the standard of the national curriculum tests, many of
whom have SEND that affect their rate of cognitive development or speed of
learning. It is important that they have the opportunity to demonstrate both
attainment and progress.
The course will include a focus on effective
pedagogy and how to use the tool for planning.
By the end of the course the delegates will be able to develop a bespoke
learning plan for individual pupils that supports secure progress in learning
and have considered strategies for monitoring the impact of the plan on pupil
progress and attainment.
